Hey,

My mate with a GQ Wagon wants me to install his LRT. He's dropping over tomorrow so I can have a look. I believe it's replacing the old tank. Don't know if it has a sender included etc.

Do you reckon I should say NO it's to hard or is it a peice of pi$$ and do it ?

it aint hard, just TIGHT....Also empty the tank before startin..

clearances are tight...

Goes somethign like this -
remove bar ends,
then towbar,
then filler hose and breather hose
then 6 bolts,
then on top of tank as it lowers, theres wires you need to unclip on the sender.

use the original sender in new tank, but replace the oring...

You might want to fit a new fuel sender o'ring as they stretch and can be hard to refit, if using the original sender unit, cheers

Well worked from 8am to 8:30pm putting this bloody LRT in.

Started by putting up the supercheap carport (solo) which is a feat in itself as it was raining. Car and other mate came over and we kicked off around 10am.

Getting all the stuff off was a pain as we had seized bolts holding the tank in and then couldn’t get the fuel lines off the top of the tank as Bogged said “TIGHTâ€

When they come brand new they come with new hoses. Fore breathers, fuel lines etc. So in that respect, just one of the bugger things about buying 2nd hand.

As for getting the tank in. What a pain that was. Not quite enough room in there to just lift it up. As it had to go up perfectly straight.
Also I pulled the carpet back in my shorty and gained access thru the inspection hole to undo some of the hoses before lowering the tank.

I did the same thing in my GU Today. Started at about 3pm finished at 6pm

Was much easier with the Towbar out of the way, but a simple job.

Problem was we couldnt go through the inspection hatch as he had drawers in the back.

Also we were drinking  which slowed everything down. Still never again

Maybe the GU is different but I didnt need to go through any hatch, all hoses etc could be removed with the original tank there & the wiring was ok with the tank down a little.

Only issue I has was the Mrs winging she didnt like me playing with the fuel tank

Are you allowed new suspension yet?
