Just wondering if you get a diff that has the pumpkin offset to one side you cut the short side and make it the same length as the long side and fit the longer axle there fore the pumpkin will now be in the centre and have a much wider diff. will that work or has been done, the new longer axle will be backwards.Thinking it would work in the front but not in the rear.

i think this has been discussed before when hypolux was going to do it. you are going to have strength issues with the welds id assume , it you want a strong wide diff get a dana 60 , can be bought for about $1000-$1500

Just curios if I get this FJ55 I`ll make a rock buggy overtime.
strength wouldn`t be a problem i`ll use stronger tube wall and gusset it big time.

Yep it will work both ends. A mate of mine is doing this very thing, he's a boily and he's planned it all out.
You just gotta be accurate with your housings, might need to spend some for some really straight, accurate tube and plugs (unless you have a laser sight you can play with)
