Temp gauge Sensor

Post by cookiesa »

Just a bit of info that might come in handy to someone else...

I had reason to need a new temp gauge sensor (I killed the old one). Trident (available Supercheap, Sprint etc) have one listed which retails for about $9... Ordered one in as Sprints didn't have one on the shelf. When it gets here it is a MUCH smaller temp sender than original. I ended up drilling and tapping a blank to take the new sensor. All works well and all up cost about $20 (including blanking cap, new drill bit and tap) Of course if you already have these then it would be even cheaper!

And don't believe the Bosch book for your power steer/AC belt... the one listed is way too short! Take your old one in! (1995)

They also list the wrong belt for a F300 waterpump - my explanation is that they have taken Applause data and gone "its the same engine so...."

Quicker just to read the belt codes and buy on them,

A cheap solution for senders is goto you nearest self serve wrecker and screw out an Applause one - same and "in stock" ;)
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
