Front suspension

Well i am getting a little sick of my approach angle due to my large extended front shackles.
My question is will a extended spring hanger do the same as an extended shackle. Currently i have 3 inch extended shackles, i was thinking of putting the standard shackles on and fitting a 3 inch dropped spring hanger on. Will this provide the same amount of flex or will it cause problems?

from my experience extended shackels will help your suspensoin work alot better. if u want better approch try moving your front diff forward by using either axel relocation plates. or some custom front springs. note will prob need to extend yur front drive shaft to. on my lux i moved the rear springs 2 the front wich moves the diff2inch forward and used 1inch axel relo plates bito chop on the frnt bar nd 38s stick out the frnt approch now no prob.

Considered doing a shackle reversal? ie. moving the fixed point up front (could also use the dropped cross member) and have the shackles behind the front wheels (same as a hilux). You would be able to extend your wheelbase at the same time (might run into trouble with steering components) and will work better when approaching obstacles, and give better flex.

yer i thought about doing a shackle reversal but the steering would have to be played with, at the moment i was looking for a quick fix

stupid me i just had a thought, because i would cut both the front and rear spring mounts off i can reweld teh new ones in whatever position i want, so the axle wont move forward.
Has anyone on here done a shackle reversal before and can they suply any advice or more so pics

why dont you put your rear springs in the front and some new rears ? I'm doing it, rear in front will move diff forward 15mm and hopefully a little more lift since rears have more arch. For the rear i'm going extended shackels and IFS hilux springs, which are about 60mm longer

but when you move your axle forward your steering wil get out of wack. wont the axle moving forward cause your pitman arm to bind up? let me know how you go

i've done alot of reading, most ppl seem to go a 20-25mm relocatoin with no problems at all, so i *should* be ok

well i think i have found a solution, bigger tyres and instead of extended shackles i am looking at 2 inch lifted parabolic front springs
