I need to replace the original tyres on the GU.
Bridgestone Duelers 275-65 17's

Any suggestion. Vehicle not lifted its standard.

I have the same rig as you,& it is my company car.It travels about 1000klm
per week (bitumen)minor 4wding ie beach,light bush & dirt roads.
about 90%bitumen 10% other,also is used to tow the comp rig frequently & bike trailer..I run mickeythompson ATZ on it,they have done 61,000klm
so far & are just over 1/2 worn,also rotated/ballence/alighn them every
10,000klm sevvice, have no problem putting them on again

change to 16in rims to start with, and go MTRs

WHy change to 16" rims?
17" rims should should handle better and the price differecne is probably bugger all between 16 and 17. If you wanna go for the price saving just goto 15 and make a huge saving.

I would personnal keep the 17" rims. Most of the tyre manufatures make a good tyre. And most here would play with Coopers, BFG's, Micky T's, Procomp and Maxxis.
But for better assitance need to know what you want the tyre to do. If just general off-road. I would go for an AT. As I have been driving on Muddies for the last 7yrs. And just put some Bridgestone 693 A/T's on my shorty since its used as a work car. And they handle so much better and are very quiet.

Definately keeping the 17's.
This will be the last set of tryes it gets before lease is up.

We noticed at Robe that 3x New GU's with 17inch rims (DDR on here is one) had to to to stupid low pressures to get tires (Dans were ST's) to bag at all..
Me and him were both at 16psi at one point, and mine were baggin out perfect, his looked like they had 1500psi in them - they hadnt changed 1 bit - length of foot or width... very interesting to see first hand.

From what I've seen, price diff from 16-17 is same as 15-16, but yea 15-17 would be on the way to 1 free tire!

for an honest oppinion on all brands,call Ryan at Fourbys tyre Superstore..
they sell all brands,& also fit out alot of tag along tour lead vechicles..
he will give you an unbiast view,& probably tell you the best place in each state to get them 0738922766

Thanks for that I might have to look into it then. As I wouldnt mind some nice looking bling 17inch rims for everyday use.

The Bridgestone AT's which came new on my navara wore out in 40 000 easy klms. I have since put BFG AT's on, the last set on my old mans GU patrol served well for around 70 000km. I was not impressed with short life of the bridgestones.

The duelers on the Gu from new i have done 82000 klms. I guess everyones experience can be different.

That why choosing a trye is a pain in the butt.

There may be a difference between Nissan fitted Bridgestones and and the local shop ones.
But also tyre maintenance makes a huge difference. I drove around the desert on bald tyres. Where as I know of other people with brand new tyres getting flats.
As far as onroad goes. The dualler 693's grip well in the wet. But these are less than 1000km old. Bled off atleast 50km/hr in the wet in a very short distance when I hit a roo the other day. I still hit the roo. But it was better than the hitting it at near on full speed with the previous BFG muds.

The Dueler AT's which came new on my D22 came in a 16" rim and are the 694 model, same as my Dad's GUIV, the only difference was they are a 17" rim. I check pressures, balance and rotate regularly, yet at 40k they were shagged. Glad to hear some people are getting a good run out of them as my past experiences with bridgestone's have always been good.
