Hi all for those that dont visit the AULRO site im doing a 4" lift on my D2

the biggest issue to date has been the shocks ive gone from OME as recommended then to bilstein dont know what, to procomps back to bilstein 7100 then off the 7100 to finally what I have settled with a bilstein BE5-A935 a shock that belongs to a F150 the compressed measurement it 424 and open 688 which is about 10.4" travel

why these shocks because there the closest of the shelf unit that suits my set up

the other option was BE5-2819 compressed 490 open 788 11.7 inch travel but this is to big rrrrrrrrrr

I found a solution Rovertym in the states has a modified front bottom mount

thank christ for that so I purchased a set along with bent Watts linkage and lowered cross member mounts $500 later

Ill wait and measure bump stops after placing in the springs then purchase the shocks

Any takes would be good it save me talking to my self

Not sure what you are trying to do here, apart from having max artic.

I'm using some Monroe shocks that I didn't purpose buy - long story, but they look like something off an 18 wheeler. Have at least 300mm travel and the pins for the fronts are about 12mm. Using Toy rubber gal cups (from an independent 4 X 4 guy at no cost). $7 each for the genuine article.

All is good after 20k kms, including serious stuff. These shocks must cost not much.

Max Artic is one thing but clearence better approach and departure angle and to fit 34 extream muddies later, I have 32 STT Coopers at present they will do fine for the mean time

I think I will wait and slip in the springs jack up one side of the diff and measure the distance between the shock mounts just before the shock makes contact to get a true open and close measurement of the shock required

Hi there Rovernit,
Got a 93 Disco and want to put 3" suspendion lift can you offer any advise as to what works and what doesn't ?
I have 31's on it and it needs 2" body lift which will be done Shorly!
Any assistance in this regard would be good.

to be honest Im no expert and probibly far from it like your self I woke one day and said I wanted a 4inch lift on the D2 and didnt know where to start 3 inch lift on a D1 is a lot easier then the D2 from what I gather and if I had to do it again I would probibly go 3 ways

Im at the moment in termoil regarding my springs and do kick my self for not getting a kit for Rovertym to start with but thats my issue

if you want an extream set up and dont mind the import factor rovertym in the states do a kit thats briliant but whats your budget

and if I did it again I would by the whole kit except the shocks but this is extreame I would call on Grahame from Quadrent suspension in VIC and get him to advise on a set of off the shelf Bilsteins in this case probibly Nissan patrol rear ones for all 4


or on the other hand if you wanted more simple again I would go either Quadrant or LRA and get advise there also (do your home work and try not to listen to to many advices as it only confuses you)

there alot of people far better then I for advise Im still hunting shocks and every time im on to something im proven wrong so Im sitting back and waitng for things to arrive to take measurements accordingly

but again how much to you want to spend and it does cost ive spent so for $1450 and dont have shocks yet which will be another $1000
