Courtesy of CJ. This info is in a thread on here somewhere but is also on the Vic club forum.

High Low
% Ratio % Ratio

Sierra Stock 1.409 2.268

Calmini 4.16: 12.2% 1.58 83.6% 4.16

Calmini 5.14: 18.3% 1.67 127% 5.15

Calmini 6.5: 20.2% 1.69 187% 6.51

Rocky Road 4.16: 12% 1.58 83% 4.16

Rocky Road 6: 24% 1.75 170% 6.12

Rocky Road 8: 24% 1.75 260% 8.16

Trail Tough 4.16: 12% 1.58 84% 4.24

Trail Tough 4.9: 16% 1.63 115% 4.88

Trail Tough 6.4: 17% 1.65 181% 6.37

Rockhopper S4: 24% 1.75 180% 6.35

Trail-Gear 6.5: 20% 1.7 187% 6.5

The above mentioned 'Sierra Stock' ratios of 1.409 and 2.268 only apply to 1300 NT, WT (leaf sprung only). So for those who have 1L, or coilies:

1-litre Sierra Stock (SJ-40): 1.580, 2.511

Coily Sierra Stock (SJ-80): 1.320, 2.123

Jimny

Stock 1.32 high, 2.145 low
Trialjimny gears 1.63 high (23%), 2.64 low (23%)
APIO gears 1.32 High (0%) 3.382 Low (58%)

Trialjimny and APIO gears 1.63 High (23%), 4.169 Low

(these are all with the CHAIN drive t/case )

Vitara

Low range ratio and reduction.

Stock 1.816

Rockhopper 4.16 129%

Rocky Road 4.4 142%

Calmini 4.24 134%

Trail Tough 4.24 134%

High range is 1:1 for all gears as there is no reduction available to the high range.

The crawler gears will fit all Vitara's '91 on and will fit GV's with a 1.6 4cyl auto & manual, 2.0 4cyl auto & manual and 2.5 V6 4 speed auto only.

Here's a couple of calculators.

Anyone got the Raitos for a 5spd Sierra Box?

I know its basicly your personal preference but what Final Crawl ratio's do most aim for? Im guessing most Winch blokes look for about 70 to 80 and most Rock Buggys would 100 or more?

What do most of you running 1.6 motors have as RPM when do 100klms?
Im guessing 3200-3500?

3.65:1 first.
5th is .79 from memory (but it changed at some stage)

Personally, I think 70+ is plenty. I'm at 107:1 now with my 660 and it's fine off road but you swap between high and low a far bit.

Remember too if you're going auto the converter adds to that. With the AW-4 the converter runs at 2.4:1 so 50:1 or 60:1 would be miles of crawl ratio.

3200-3500 should be fine for a 1.6, depending on how heavy and un-aerodynamic the car is.

This may not be relevent but here goes

I just put S4 RH :D (6.4:1 i think) in my 1.3L 5 speed Sierra
I'm now doing 3600rpm at 100kph in 5th on 30's, i can now hold 100kph on the h/way
tho i tend to hold it around the 90-95kph just to keep the revs down a tad

I was originally gonna go the calmini 5.14:1 thinking that would be better for road use
but now i'm glad the op came up with these 6.4:1 as they're good onroad and the drop offroad in unbelievable

I can email a spreadsheet with all the ratios if you want. Haven't found anywhere to host it yet. Smileysmoke? Christover?

Worked out with the Novak converter, that gives an "actual" tyre diameter of 29.5"

A full height 31 comes in at 3300rpm, but yes, that conforms the accuracy of the novak converter.
