Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am not sure of how to get bearings off my rear axles. I have taken the circlip off that looks like it holds the bearing in, but the bearings won't budge. All the brakes are out, so the only thing left on are the backingplate that the bearings are in and they won't flippin move.
Anyone help would be appreciated

You need to press them off somehow as they are held on by a collar that is normally heated and then pressed on. You can try and cut the collar off by scoring it with a grinder and then bashing it with a cold chisel, or use the method shown in the webpage above (heaps of pics).

If you were in Sydney i could do it for you, i made a special press jig out of an old axle housing. Take it to a diff shop, they wont charge you much to swap a new bearing onto the axle.

Mate, just remove the locking collar, the smaller collar next to the bearing by using a chisel, and belting it in several places.
The dent made by the chisel will remove its clamping pressure so to speak.

Then get some hard wood, and place it onthe floor.

Holding the backing plate, lift the axle assy up, so that the inner part of the axle is dangling down, then bring it down firmly onto the hardwood piece.
Several belts like this will drop the backing plate, and bearing assy off the axle and not damage the backing plate.

Your leting the shock and force of the bearing do the work, not actually trying to pull the bearing off by the backing plate if you know what I mean.
