Loose front wheel

Ok. I have a 1992 Vitara and recently had the Bearing replace on the passenger side. After a short while it became loose but i've checked and the bearing adjustment ring is as tight as it will go.
I've pulled it apart and think my axel might have stretched.
Is this likely and Possible and what will I be up for to replace it with one from the Wreckers?
Thanks for the help, Ben

its probably moving at your kingpin bearings. (the ones your steering swivels around) when you move you wheels to test the bearings check whether the whole swivel hub and brake assembly move. If they do then its your kingpin bearings.

Muppetman, Vitaras don't have kingpin bearings. they have a lower ball joint and a strut.
Rosie - I assume you mean stretched the spindle, which the axle runs through. I would be very very surprised if you have "stretched" anything. Did you put new bearings in it? They might just be flogged out. Is the spindle worn? Often, if the bearings go loose, the race can spin on the spindle and wear in the spindle (which is softer than the bearing race) means that no matter how hard you tighten the bearings, there will still be slop in a system.

Ah ok GWagensteve. I think that's whats happened.
I might have time to throw it up on the hoist tomorrow but was just preparing myself for it.
I can't see this little prob being cheap either. I'mabout to sell the car too but better sort it out first.

Oh, as per what muppetman implied though, it might be worth just checking the lower ball joint. Wobbling the wheel with a hand on the joint should rule it out.
They seem to last pretty well though.
