Outer Limits 4x4 Board

My mate has a new flat tray dual cab hilux and has asked me advice on lifting and bigger tyres. I suggested 2" body and 2" suspension and 33's as I have used this formula on 4runner's and Hilux's before.

1. Will the same formula work on the current model?
2. Are there any particular hastles to watch out for or is it pretty straightfoward like the old ones?
3. Will lifting the bulbar affect air bags?

I have done about five or six 45mm lifts on current Hiluxs using Tough Dog shocks and springs and they so far have proven to be a great combo. Going another 2" might require one of the Snake Racing kits as i haven't seen a bodylift done on one??

bodylifts cannot be done to the new hilux as they have two airbag sensors on the front and 1 on the steering column somewhere.

New navara's and Tritons can because they only have the one sensor on the front, thus the lift wouldnt affect them.

So bodylift is ruled out.

Suspension wise, I have 3" front foam cell struts and they work fine. With some slight trimming Im running 285's with no scrubbing and awesome flex.

The rear have foam cell extended shocks too and have the original leaves reset to about 2 inches higher.

Works well.







The ARB bar on the front dropped it to just under 3" height, but the truck performs faultlessly.

You just need to find someone with experience in doing wheels alignment on these new lifted hilux's because if the castors arent adjusted correctly you get vibrations and wobbles.

Also, keep an eye on the rear brake proportioning valve - not only dose it need to be adjusted when lifted but the hose running down to the diff might need to be extended as it doesnt give much stretch, so may need one an inch or so longer to replace it.
