sorry to any retailers of this gear but in my search for a cheap good susension setup i stumbled upon this guy. he is very good to talk to and will help out when he can. and he will give good prices for postage.

bought some from him....16" air shocks..... perfect transaction and worked out waaay cheaper than buying retail here...
I dont understand how a retailer from the US can buy and ship to Aus and still be a LOT cheaper than the equivalent retailer here... Maybe retailers here just want to make huge margins.

Retailers arent making a huge margain over here this guy sells more sets than all of our retailers hence he has better buy in price. The likes of rohan cant compete with this guy however if you need service the guy in the states cant help and i doubt local guys would be willing lend asistance if you purchased them overseas.. Just something to consider,

The shipping for the (4) Fox Air Shocks would be $174.00 via USPS International Express and the Transit time is 5-6 days..
Also what I would do is lower the cost of the shocks down to $405.00 a pair
to help offset the shipping a little...

mine is a budget build.. kinda proviong a point..
$300 buys 5 lengths of tube..
a tail shaft masheneing...
or even a motor...
if this were a full on build i would say yeah defently pay the extra 300-400

im not a milionare.. and at this point in time.. its getting to the point either i get some sponcers and some extra coin.. or i dont go...

they have fox air bumps 4 inch travel $488 a pair landed at my door. the best price i saw these for here was 330 each plus postage. but i do understand the sellers over here need to make a living and i also believe if the saving was only 300 i would buy local but after buying 4 coilovers with springs and air bumps. thats a grand saving. enough to buy a nitrogen kit to charge the shocks or to have a chunk of the complicated fab to mount them done.

got my 18" travel 2.5" fox air shocks for about $950 for the pair from down south motorsports.... he makes kings so he tells me and is very close to fox! took about 4 days after ordering to get to my door.

well I paid too much. i looked everywhere inc ebay and saw nothing. mine came to $9300 aus could have bought them for $4800us. One of those things.

I hate to say it, but Australian shops need to start putting their foot down or they won't be around for much longer.

I run a business, very specialized, have people ring up every day with problems associated with product from competitors or product that they've imported themselves then call me asking how to fit it, diagnose it or even fit it. They want me to give away what i've worked for, the knowledge on how it all works for FREE

My response, bring it in along with your credit card and i'll get it done. Todays culture is becoming a global economy where people will buy from the cheapest GLOBAL supplier, unfortunately they usually expect the local supplier to bail them out of the shit.

I import a container a week from the US, i bought my coilovers locally. The supplier has been nothing short of excellent when its come to advice regarding the set up, installation, spring rates etc etc.

I hold nothing against people buying from the US, Asia or enywhere else in the world. All i'm saying is that price isn't everything particularly when it comes to suspension where a vast majority of the advice and assistance you can get here comes from the suppliers.

For the record, there are a number of parts attached to my 4WD that i've imported from the US, plasma, cutting brakes, disconnect, lights and many others.

Unfortunately motorsport is expensive. Simply saying that sometimes saving money can cost you in the end.

I completely agree with Sierrajim on this one, i just bought a full set of Radflo 14" 2.5 coilovers, 2x 14" 2.5 smoothies and a set of hydro bumps and didn't care whether or not i could buy them overseas slightly cheaper, i just went to my normal supplier (Cheezy Racing) and said this is what i want let me know when there in. I'm not made of money either but i'm all for supporting the local bloke who's trying to make a living and trying to advance the sport, in some ways i wish the internet didn't exist as it would stop 90% of the business going off shore these days.

These was a gentleman that posted something about buying from a local distributor in Australia and how it affects him and his business..
I am not here to take your business, I do not advertise in Australia, most of my business stays here in the US..
I barely ship anything to Australia...For just this reason..I do not want to get into a pissing match with anyone..I already had my balls kicked in at King one time about selling King in Australia..So now not much King goes to Australia from me anyway..I agree that you should buy local, I know that I just shot myself in the foot saying that, but its true..If a person can afford it and get the service they want..more power to them..
But if a customer comes to me for questions or Info..I will do the best I can to get them the Information they need to make an educated decision as to what will work best for them...I am here to try and help the Industry, the Off Road Industry here in the states is going through a hard time with laws and the economy and just racing in general..My job is to try and help keep it alive for those of us who have a passion for it..
I have been in the Off Road Industry for about 18 years now and I have made it a point to try and help everyone I can, whether it was pricing or just questions that needed to be answered..
Again this post is not to promote my tiny little company...I am not here to piss anyone off or make waves...

Sounds good to me. And thinks for the link. I would like to have good susp. But cant afford the premium price. But with abit of research on the net. I think it is possible to work out how to make these things work and how to set them up. So cost is important.
And no one should be made to feel bad for looking for a better deal. But can understand why local sellers may add a 'comp tax' type thing. To people who cant set them up or need advice. So instead of it costing me $200 for a local person to setup, excluding the supply cost. I can understand they may now charge me $300 for the same service.

I disagree .. I recently purchased a bearing set for a turbo from the States, the freight (from The US) was less than half what I was going to be charged by a company from south aus, and the bearing kit itself ( same brand) was US $86 (about $100 aus) .. the closest I could get in Aus was $430 (both prices were for a hitachi brand bearing kit) and that was after about 7 or 8 diffrent places.
And dont say it is about volume, the next cheapest place I could buy kit was NZ who was almost half the aussie price, again with better prices on freight than any of the aussie companies despite being shipped much larger distances.
The service offered by the people I spoke to in Aus was generaly pretty poor as well and I was treated like an idiot and imposition, the two international sellers took time to explain what I may need and why.
