03 Rear Diif...

Post by Mig »

I am running 33' Muds on an 03 Hilux and am having difficulties keeping the rear diff in one piece (crown wheel lost 4 teeth, now this time pinion is half missing).

I dont carry or tow heavy loads (yet) or do any serious off roading, but am intending on towing a 1500Kg boat soon and am concerned about the reliabilty of the diff.

Has anyone else had this problem and what solutions / suggestions are there to eliminate this problem.

Was thinking of using a 60 series diff with an ARB Loecker.

Opinions????

Thanks in advance!

I had an 03 hilux before I sold it too. I too blew the rear diff with 31" muddies after 15,000kms and Ive heard of about 5 or 6 people that have had the same thing happen to them.

Dont know what it is and toyota never had a recall.

go figure.
