SD33T which way should the snorkel head face?

Post by 4WD WOG »

Hey guys,

im making a snorkel and was wondering if i should face the head forwards or back, if i face it forward it will be a 90 degree bend with a male 45 degree bend, if i face it back itll be a 45 bend straight back, does it make a difference? will it get to much or to little air? im making it out of PVC but im not gonna glue the head so i can still move it round.

RAM air

Post by Sterlo »

G'day ethnic person

Face snorkle forward.. Y? well you can take advantage of the RAM air effect. Ideally suited to better enconomy on the hi-way. The faster you go the more air that gets rammed into the engine.
Heavy off road, mud face it to the side or back to save your air cleaner/engine depending how much water you hit. I travel a lot on dirt roads in western QLD all bull dust, I simply take off ram top and put in a pre-cleaner.
Hope this helps
