Not sure what gqhoon has without looking it up but here is my take on a roof light bar. Had 90 deg bends in either end of the bar and just cut through the bend to make it 'smoother' fitting. Welded a bolt into either end of the pipe and use lock nuts to bolt it onto my tray bar. Most of the wiring is inside the bars and I have a weatehr proof fitting so that I can pull it off easy for day time driving. Two nuts and a plug to pull it off - about a minutes worth.
There is a few threads here with info for you, search for roof lights under general tech.

But seriosuly that is the point of having them quick detach, they only go on when needed and they come off quickly when not needed.
DJ HANSEN funny thing is now when people search for something all they find is old threads of people saying to use the search function. You have time to post a pic why not use it to post something constructive. People do have new ideas, new pics and more experience since old threads. If we all used just the info in old threads it would get very quiet and boring in here.
Just kept mine simple and as said above only go one when needed.

From the sounds of things, i dont think you know what you want.tna racing wrote:whats peoples design. im soon going to make 1 like gqhoon. so what have you came up with ?
Hoonz lights are different the lights are mounted to top of the frame to reduce the shake effect so they are solid. They are not just bolted on a rack.
thats the reason why they're are designed like this same as kill bill sydney harbour bridge roof light system. (which is for sale i think)...

so why didnt you post in a thread that was similar to what you are needing etc, that way you end up with ONE thread containing lots of information, instead of 1000 threads containing little snippets of information, and links to other threads.tna racing wrote:i have searched, there not what i wanna see though,99% of them are the legalitys of them. and the rest are for uteswrksux wrote:The reason you have to actualy sort through results is because noobs like you dont search ever.

Re: pics of roof light bars
I would have thought it was more so the fact that being a wagon. He cant fit a flip down light bar, unless he cuts a hole in the roof (I think this could be cool). And mounting them like he has gives them much better protection. As the light bar / rack, will take all the forces. Not a single bolt on the light.weeman wrote:From the sounds of things, i dont think you know what you want.tna racing wrote:whats peoples design. im soon going to make 1 like gqhoon. so what have you came up with ?

thats correct , thats why i want to use this set up, i aint cutting holes in roof for rams n so on, it would be cool though . i currently have them on a super cheap pos rack, i dont wanna smash them so wanna change set up

Agree, it is of no benefit as no one can read in Franga any hoobogged wrote:Why do the bacon write the word backwards on the bonnet? Didnt the 2 ton of white car with flashing lights all over it and screaming siren give it away?

you need a bar over the top at least 100mm forward of your lights. otherwise they are only goor for spotting possums. one night nav we had to get out at least 15 times to re aim them. with the bar i had at obc we only did it once the whole 3 days.
