44's on stock Sierra axles - Street Legal in Iowa

And a lovely quote from the Pirate thread it was featured in:

And anyone that that bought this without realizing the axles will snap faster than OJ coming home to find his wife cheating on him needs to have what a 4.3 is explained also.

This Samurai was built for car shows and parades and has never been off-road.
Much too nice, in my opinion, for off-roading.
Would probably snap all the running gear anyways :D

all in all :? Bring on the Bling Bling :D
puts mine to shame in the bling factor,
But I bet I could go further up a hill :finger:

OK besides the bleeding obvious, a few little things I picked up on:

- 2 Steering dampers, why?
- WT Dash, with NT instrument cluster...

I think it would be a nice car to buy, and 're-modify', it seems to have a reasonable body on it. Might even be able to sell those little wheels and get half your money back (Then again who'd buy them?).

AT least its a Wide Track  .

Then wats the point of building a 4x4 with 44's

Then again that's not a 4x4 :finger:

They really do look fine, they look like the Arizona Auto parts wrangler SR to me. A kit that is well proven.
They pick up the origional spring mount with a machined steel bush and bolt, the rest is welded to the chassis, to me you may be a bit ignorant of other ways of doing things. Not everyone wants to run Rears up front with old man emu spring packs and a 2 inch bodylift as the answer to every Zuk suspension setup.

The answer to both your questions is SHOW CAR. They are not built with sensible in mind. Just look at the other abortions that people build to show them.

every thing else is done..
put a set of gq diffs, or something like that under it, and drive it

If the tyres were boggers / swampers and the car weighed two tonne he would need to worry about diffs breaking and bending. But I reckon its not as bad as what some of you make out.

zooks bust diffs with 31's and a standard 1.3ltr.....
that thing would have 3x the ponies and 100X the traction..
it would bust easy

yeah yeah ok got the point ,and I know its only a show car!!, maybe I should have been more specific. I was refuring to the ruff design by moving the original mount forward via extending the chassie to suit the application. yeah ok they have secured strength with utalising the original bolt position and I dont Doubt that it is triedand proven, but it could have been done slightly better I recon anyway, just my 2c which in these times is only worth .002c aparently anyway. plus it was 11:30 last night when I was looking at it,
:morning:

I know that the kit they used is a reverse shackle but I like this one better

probably going to get  down for this :D
no I haven't driven with either set up and no I dont know how they handle, I just like the RR one better. besides its bolt on no welding required

I had this car for a screensaver for a while.
silly but cool

another note I have being out 4bing with a guy a few times with a very stock lj50 exept sprung over with 35's locked front and rear lj50 diffs. and it has out driven me several times and i broke more sierra diffs with 31's than he did with 35's, so dont jump to conclusions EVERYTIME i have broken a diff its because my car was jumping around and wheels spinning.

conclusion if the car can crawl and flex why should it brake.

even if he was using biggerstronger axles hes running 5.83 diff gears , the pinion would nearly fall out the diff seal :D but obviously it works for him as he said hes won car shows with it .

danzo i wish my ruf looked as strong as those ones  dont come around my place and look at my mods :D zooks are made to have bodgy work done to them , you buy a patrol and do the proper stuff to them

oh and 11-evil reverse shackles

pros

they make a lot of sence because when you hit a rock or log etc without them the force has nowhere to go exept straight up te spring to you in the car hence sierra bounce everywhere and bounce you in it because sometyhing has to move, if you reverse them that same force is lost because the shackle will move back taking most of it.

cons

you need to swap every thing welding or expensive kits messes with the drive shaft as it needs more room to shrink more than normal and still extend on flex and transport dont like them either swapping them that is understandably there is a lot of butchers out there

its going good, its not shackle reversed as i want to get a mod plate for the hilux diffs, and this set up i brought, worked well on BBM's sierra so i want to see how it works on mine then modifie what i dont like, dosent work for me etc..
picked up water to air intercooler today should have it running in 2 weeks i am hoping anyway i have spent the last week on it the hilux diffs, bundera P/S, springs, drop shackles, i brought f250 shock mounts for the rancho's and wt conversion all done just need to work out track bar drive shafts and swap motors over then broom broom :D

what a waste of a sierra.

put a set of f100 4x4 diffs in, bingo lots of strenth same stud pattern for those wheels and tyres, the v6 will turn them fine with right ratio's and then that wasted sierra, is the top sh@t sierra ;)

Posted: Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:32 am
by gumtree
Meh still be a waste. i dont know why they wasted all that suspension on it when clearly it would have no flex or wheel travel at all. the suspension should be replaced with a straight steel rod witha a small shock and small spring going from chasi to diff. that will do for him coz he aint flexing with those tyres.

id buy it for 5k thou. sell the tyres and half the suspension and put normal wheels on it. looks like a pretty straight sierra. 31's with v6 would go!!! :D

i didn't get a real good look out the suspenion my server is slow out moment so i didn't wait for it to fully down load $5000 over there for that must be real dear here it would have gone for sure even if it couldn't be rego'd
