Hey all, had a look through the bible and it didn't cover much , and currently looking at a 92 maverick lwb 4.2 manual with 4" lift, chopped gaurds, 33" muds , custom rear bar, extractors etc etc blah blah blah,
do have a few questions ...
#1 how would you all rate the 4.2 petrol for towing car trailers etc
#2 how thirsty are they
#3 how do you swap the rear sliding glass for one piece units
#4 oops also for towing is there any gear box issues
#5 whats the cheapest approx for a gas conversion
thanks all .......

www.gqpatrol.com or (com.au)
It has a whole list of items to look for on gq patrols when buying second hand.
From memory, either it, or
www.patrol4x4.com has a section on replacing the sliding glass windows.
If my experience is anything to go by, then the 4.2 diesels seem to have head issues, but mine may just have been a mongrel.

I think your example is a pretty rare occurrence.
The petrols are far more infamous for cracking heads, even more so on gas. But once its done you should be right for another 250k.
