Outer Limits 4x4 Board

please give me some ideas as to what i can do , i know some of u blokes run a radiator at the back so please guys any related feedback on this subject would be thankx

You can fit 2x 10" fans in front of the radiator or if you cut the lower support out you can fit a single 16".

With a short commodore water pump(small bearing) you can fit a early 4 blade 6Cyl fan but you cant run power steer or anything with this set up.

I currently run an fixed engine fan with my v8 conversion. but it is really close to the radiator (custom 3-row radiator). I have chained the motor back stince I destroyed a radiator. The fan I have is one of those flexi racing fans. I belive they really don't pull alot of air about 1600cfm at 2250rpm.



I also have a 11" thermo on the front for the A/C. I do not have any over heating problems, but it is really tight.

I have been thinking lately of switch to thermo's so I don't have to worry about destroying another radiator and gaining a bit of HP back (as it is a fixed fan).

I have come across zirgo fans (http://www.zirgo.com). These fans seem to put out a lot of CFM and are very thin. I am probably going to go with a ZF-10 and ZF-9 which will give me about 3000CFM. This should be enough to cool the V8.

CHRIS i found 9''thermos at autobarn on sat for $90 bucks they push 1350 cfm each and have dimentions of 55mm thick x 242mm high x 249mm wide and the thing is that wen i asked who they were made buy he said that the othrer day a bloke asked the same and when they pulled the 14'' unit packaging off it had DAVIS CRAIG stamped on it so if the storys true they should be OK

The 10" thermos are only $99 aswell

You will need a big fan for a V8. i had a 10" for my 1.5 5K in the Sierra and had to go to the 12" as it was geting hot with the 10. You will be surprised how thin the thermos are, you should be able to get it tucked in nicely. The other thing to consider is getting a high efficiency aluminium race radiator made. They can be made to fit the space you have and are great at dissipating heat

I had a Davies Craig DCSL12 ( http://www.daviescraig.com.au/fan_info.asp?7 ) fan on my Feroza - it's 12" and nice and thin, but bloody useless on a hot day. I regularly had problems with it overheating on days over 30 degrees, and that's on a 1.6l engine!

Going on there web site a 9" fan (DCSL9) only does about 600CFM?? That is why I have never used davis craig fans they just don't have enough CFM. The fans I have seen with alot of CFM's are the zirgo fans and SPAL fans. I have never used these fans but SPAL have a very good rep.

To cool the V8 I think you are going to need about 2000CFM's

I will believe that. That fan only has 850CFM
A SPAL fan in the same size has 1630CFM
A zirgo fan in the same size has 1650CFM

Now this is going by the manufacture specs, they could be BS!!

I Run 2 10" Cooltemp Fans in front of my rad. Im using a stock 3 core deisel rad and with the rover 3.9 it cycles the fans on and off ideling for at least 1hour and remains on running temp. The fans cycle out totaly once the car is traveling above 60.

I thought you where running a 16" davis craig??

Are they Cooltemp thermos rebadged units?? I know now some other a/c fans are rebadged originally from spal or tripac!!

I was originaly running a DCSL16 but i wanted to get a little more room for my winch cable and be able to replace the lower panel on the radiator support.

The Cooltemps may be Re-badged.

i will Check CFM ratings tomorrow but i dont beleive they are very high.

I'm now running a Daewoo Nubira/ Cielo thermofan complete with shroud. It covers up most of my radiator and pumps out a lot more air- the Feroza's a lot happier now.
