V8 transplant

I've just picked up a fairly stock FJ70 shorty with a knacked 3F. I had planned on transplanting a holden 5L but probably with a stroker bottom end and torker cam. Another option I've looked at is a chev Gen 3 or 4 (5.7 or 6.0L ).

I do realise that using a fourby flywheel with the extra weight and a cam to maximise torque is the best way to go and this sort of combination will be used regardless of engine finally put in.

Any info or tips would be helpful. Also any tips on how the rest of the drivetrain will handle this would be good.

Do whatever you can to maintain the 4wd clutch... my 308 set-up uses the holden heavy duty clutch and can handle the power under acceleration from 2nd gear up! but cant handle the heat when out 4wding as much...

LS1s are great but I would personally opt for a later model - much cheaper and easier to replace when you drag it through the mud and bang it up a bit however I have never used a LS1/chev in mine...
