Aux reverse lights on spare carrier

G'Day peoples,

I'm currently building a spacer/auxiliary reverse light mount for the back of my Mav. The thing that is stalling me is how to feed the power cable throught the back door neatly.
I don't mind drilling a hole in the door, does anyone know of a waterproof plug I could fit into the door to make it easier if i need to take the lights off in the future?

Cheers,

Dave

:D

That is very similar to a question I asked on Sunday.

Have a look as there were some good options mentioned about plugs....

What I did was remove one of the bolts from the spare wheel carrier and using a lathe I drilled a hole through it just big enough to get the wire through. I coated the wire in sikaflex then fed it through the hole. I have had this on the 4B now for a couple years without any problems even with the additional weight of a larger than standard spare tyre.

cable gland avail from any middys / awm / elec wholesaler

if you use round cable (not fig 8) will seal up water tight and could be hidden behind spare wheel carrier

I used a cable gland like BASSYK suggested. I also mounted my spotlight in the middle of the spare wheel. I also fitted a connector just before the light so its easy to get off to access the spare wheel.
