You engineers and mechanics out there better get 100% on this test.

Lucky I can't tell you my score yet, as I'm only just a few questions into the test so far.

Q31 is fucked! The diagram is poorly drawn. If it was accurate, the correct answer isn't there. :bad-words:

Is that the one with lots of pulleys?

I agree there are a few shit questions like that - can't remember which ones now. Pretty dodgy test - if i were marked on that at uni there'd be trouble

...none the less i got 88% :?

-Stu :)

shit questions i remember:
one with lots of pulleys
oil/water one

92%

Two masses on an uneven balance.

I farked question 44. :bad-words: I knew it as I was on the next question, but couldn't go back.

The question about the n/a engine cylinder is a little crappy too - I'd accept either of two answers, but I reckon I know which one they want.

Why is the oil/water one shit?? oil has a lighter SG than water, so it floats

Yeah probably right.

The offset lever one was a bit dodge too wasn't it?

Not being able to go back sucks, I know where I stuffed up and realised after submitting, What score ??

i got 74%... stuffed up the parallel voltage one... and the engine one is crap too... and the uneven balance with two equal masses.

Several of my mates are engineers.. i shall see what they get

I can think of at least three OL'ers I would expect to score 100% - but I won't name names. :D

Agh dammit, I got Q31 wrong. Agreed, it's a silly question. Should give dimensions or have only one remotely reasonable answer.
I agree with scott on the cylilnder question. Knew which one they were after ;)

If so it'll depend on the map on the CPU as it depends on what map you use as to what the rpm will be.

an example
a bad map might be 3000rpm for 100klm chew up heaps of fuel.

A good map might be 1500rpm for 100klm and use very little fuel.

Gearing won't mean much if the engine has EFI.
can anyone troubleshoot this guy's efi though?

Steve.

I got 88%. Bit disapointed usually do better on mechanical reason tests. But oh well. Still not bad.

goit 80%, although i swear going back through them that the answer i clicked and the answer it said i clicked were completely different.

and the engine one... isn't the air drawn into the cylinder due to a difference in atmospheric pressure vs that of the cylinder? and what causes the difference (yes i got it wrong)

78%... not to bad seeing as i have no mechanical background whatsoever :D well methinks so anyway!

90%, not bad for someone who sorts mail all night. That must be why I am heading out soon to drive trains.

You can review your answers. Agree the engine one is a tad BS, if the piston wasnt going down, there would be no room for the atmosphere to force air in, so it really is the piston suction doing it, creating a vacumn.

What was wrong with how it was drawn? And what would the correct answer be?

No, its pushed in by atmospheric pressure, Naturally aspirated ;)

Q8 - Sun gear - wording is very poor - rotates vs turns (I got confused)

Pulley questions - should say to neglect pulley friction

Q44 - Venturi - I don't beleive their answer. My spa bath shows very clearly water doesn't rise up the venturi tube. (second tube). First tube would rise due to static pressure before restriction.

But I am only an IT geek.
