Hi all,
would anyone know what EFI motor will bolt up to a D21 navara with a Z24 motor on board. Prefer no or very little modds to do. Im sure something must but it would be good to know for sure.

just need the right bell housing but they will all bolt to your currnt box.
that said the box will last 5 minutes with any of the turbod rb or vg motors on it

Your gearbox has the bell housing as part of the box, so I think you'll find the options are somewhat limited. After researching a lot a few months ago, I am convinced the standard gearbox isn't as weak as some people maintain and it would easily handle the 3lt V6 motor or similar, but from memory it won't actually bolt straight up to it. The options are, get a gearbox, transfer and V6 from a Pathfinder, or get someone who knows what they are doing to make a bellhousing to engine adaptor plate for the motor you choose. Unfortunately, most of the Nissan boxes do not have seperate bellhousings, so conversions are a PITA. A common conversion of course is the Commodore V6 and auto, but it isn't a cheap conversion for what you get. I put one in mine and did all the work myself, but it was still a more expensive conversion than my 1UZ V8 I recently completed in my Hilux and you just can't compare the end result. I was at one time keen to stick a VH45 Infinity V8 in the Navara, but because there hasn't been many done, you'd be flying by the seat of your pants and in the end the Hilux conversion was the easier.

my mate as a pthfinder same vintage as a d21. originally had a z24.
he is half way thru putting a vg30dett into it. bolted straight to the standard box wich HAS A BOLT ON BELLHOUSING. (like almost all nissans bar mq and 2.8/3l patrols and a few others )
he is using a z31 bellhousing clutch and flywheel and a mix and match of engine mounts from the factory v6 pathy and a z32 (as one side pathy mount wont clear the turbos)
if u wanted to do a rb series motor you need the bellhousing from a r31 with a rb30de as later skylines have bigger boxes like later 300zx, a ca u can use a bluebird or s12 gazelle bellhousing
and sr i think is a silvia belhousing but would have to be confirmed as it was ages ago i helped him research this

just spoke to my mate. the box in your car should be a "fs5w71c" and all the info above will relate
some of the diesels with a ed24 i think had a different box with a 1 peice box. in wich case u need to source a fs5w71c

This thread is for a mate. He doesnt want more power just better reliability. The old carby motor is just about stuffed and EFI would be better.

Not knowing my engine codes from bar codes of the engine codes listed, what engines [codes listed] were actually from the more modern Navara's and [if not] I wonder if any would fit? I ask because i've just bought a '86 Pathy and was considering an engine swap myself from the Z24

i would like to see a pic of the arrangement, thats alot of block & turbos to fit between the chassis rails.

bellhousing DOES come of gearbox, i did a bit of gearbox juggling when a friend blew his gearbox in his td27 terrano and i still had my manual gearbox about the place, after my swap.
