Hey just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with the rovertym products, in particular the 5" lift in regards to quality and strength, they look strong, but looks dont mean anything, looking at the kit for my 94 RRC

I cant comment on strength as my bits and pieces haven't been installed yet but is does look strong

I bought a few things like cross member spacers cranked watts linkage lower shock mounts

there service is great but a little slow if you communicate over e-mail its best to call them and not communicate over e-mail like I did I think there pricing is great so is there product I wouldnt buy the whole kit just bits that are hard to find here for example shocks if you intent not installing bilsteins buy them here but other things from scorpion or equip that can be bought here is probibly cheaper at rovertym

Is there any reason you need a 5" lift ?

becasue 3 isnt big enough for what i want it to do and you need all the same stuff for a 3 pretty much as for a 5 anyway, im quite happy with the way its going to drive on the hwy as i have driven cars with 5,6 and been in one with a 7 which i can handle, why do you ask?

its a standard procedure when you want to do a lift or you inquire about one some must ask why the so and so lift

and because I want to isnt a good enough answer OK

There is a huge difference in 3" and 5". 3" you can keep the stock control arms and drive shafts.

5" required all new control arms, driveshafts, shock mounts, brake lines, pretty much everything.

What is it you want to do?

I'm not saying dont do it or having a go at you but 5" spring lift on a rover is huge....You say u have been in trucks with 5 6 and 7"lifts my guess is not rovers probably nissans and yotas which are a hell of a lot easier to lift.
To many people do it for wank factor only just so they can say they have a big lift..

You also need to remember a 5" spring lift wont be legal

Apart from that the kit looks good.

The legalities arnt really a concern atm, and a 3" is pushing it for being legal on a rover anyway, i have 32" tyres which arnt legal either. With a 3" you should be doing brake lines anyway if your doing it properly, the castor is out enough as it is with the 2" As for the driveshafts it vibrates as it is now so even with a new rotorflex (which im swapping over to a uni style) so im not to bothered, rovers with 4" are fine i personally cant see much difference in an extra inch. The type of stuff im doing i need alot more flex, which i know i could still get out of a lesser lift, and yes i must admit i want it a 'little bigger', i cant do a bodylift on my model becasue of SRS airbags. Yes the vehicles i was refering to a nissasns and toyotas and the only reason they are easier to lift than a rover is becasue there is more aftermarket support for them imo.

Thanks for the comments though and will keep them in mind

Thats cool and the only reason i questioned it was you get alot of people on here with no idea and i like to think they can learn from other peoples mistakes..Personally i would never do it to a rover let anlone any 4wd.

For more travel have you considered retaining your exsisting springs and running a longer shock? It allows you to keep a lower centre of gravity with the benifit of a bit more travel.

Has anyone tried to order from Rovertym?

I have trying to get hold of them for a while now. I send emails, but get no response.

Cheers

I got a reply from Rovertym

I was aftera rear ball joint spacer. The spacer alone was US$150, but shipping costs are US$105!!! Even if the Aussie dollar is at 90 cents, the shipping costs are a rip!

Second idea is to fab one up...might be the way to go

We stock the 3rds productions lower rear arms, but they are not heim jointed nor are they cranked. Bloody strong as though!!!! If you can bend em, I will replace em! Even in GQ/GU's and 80/100 series they are near indestrucable, never had a set come back in 4 years.

Im going to have a crack at this soon, will post results. The other option is to lower the chassis end of the a-frame, I will have a look at this option also. (thanks to guru for the idea ;) )
