Hey

I have got noises that seem to have got worse in the driveline.

whats the easiest way to work out if it is the gearbox or transfer? I was thinking about N in transfer and going through the gears but that will still spin the input shaft for the transfer.

noise seems to be mainly when accelerating and not on decel. changes pitch when accelerating at different rpms/speed.

can u drop the jack shaft whilst the transfer is still in there?

I am taking a guess it is transfer noise(may have to buy the 4.9s a lot before i wanted them) :( (if so would only bearings be shat or gears dieing also.)

yes you can remove the jackshaft with the tcase still mounted. If it does turn out to be your tcase, just run a bearing kit through it and that should fix it. While its apart inspect your gears too. Its much more likely to be the bearings than the gears though.

ok's looks like i will have to play under the zook.

does anyone know if the 1L 84 > inc 4wd light transfer is same bearing kit as the 1.3 case. its the same case so i am assuming so.
