Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Ok finally got my head around the basic's of car wiring.

Now I need to now know the optimum size's for the major things...I will be running everything from the dash switch's to the fuse/relay bank in the factory size's and keep the fuse's to that size as well.

We basically designed it to have minimum connections in the engine bay, we are having one power feed from the battery to under the dash were hopefully I can find a water proof fuse box along with a row of relay's. (is this the best way to go??)

It's a 135amp alt what size to the batt+starter?
h4 headlight's?
basic kc spot's at the moment. but will be HID's one day.

Recomended place's in melb to buy relay's/fuse box/wiring and anything else that I'll need?

can any point me towards some good online resource's so i can actually understand what I'm doing properly?

and finally, any helpfull hint's and tips?

What are you building , and as for water proof fuse boxes and relay boxes haven't seen to many , maybe a marine place could hook you up but the best way to find stuff is surf the net to you find what you are looking for , most places will have listings for all there gear , maybe talk to your local auto elec or maybe build your own. As for wire size bigger is better but you have to fit it to lugs to connect it to your fuses and relays , don't have any extra joints , especially in the main battery leads. Mostly depends on what your load will be , with the 135 amp alternator should be ample for your requirements. Just remember to use fusable links on your main supplies and fuses on all your loads , I run one relay per light with a 20 amp fuse , doing this will give you very bright lights. Make shore you label the fuses and relays to make fault finding easier , be aware of chaffing and protect the cables with some split or solid corrugated conduit. BBM in sydney sell fuse and relay plates , but not waterproof ones so try your local 4wd shops arround your area , Cheers Paul.

I've got all that stuff sussed, just cant find anywhere for the life of me the best wire size's to use gunna go shopping for everything tomorrow however so hopefully will find something.

It's just a weekend warrior but while it's getting wired I'm making everything as simple and hassefree as possible hence the water proof boxes (just in case I do drown it) it's one less thing to worry about.
