Power Chip for NJ Paj

I am considering replacing either the older V6 3000 with a new one OR reconditioning the original motor. ATM the engine is ok with 230k on the clock but by the time it hits 280k I wouldn't mind having a contingency plan in effect ... if not completed!

Vehicle is an NJ 1994 V6 3000 LWB Pajero.

I've heard that you may be able to get a power chip for the V6 3000. Is anyone aware of this? If so, what is the cost and is it easily fitted to the motor?

Also, has anyone bored out the cylinders to make them a tad larger?

Any help advice appreciated as I can't find anyone who has done anything like this.

Not certain on this, but would you want in increase the stroke not the bore, so that you get more torque...

More interested in power as I tow a van at times. To be honest, I didn't realise you could do what you've suggested!

I wouldn't bother trying to tweak and rebuild the current engine, it'll end up costing a bucket load more than just swapping in a fresh 3.5 or holden 3.8.

At this stage I'll be swapping for a new V6 3ltr ... cost works out the same as a recon motor so may get a power chip for the new motor.

Cheers ...
