i put mine under the CD player, but it is a shithouse fixing system in there as has been mentioned, i ended up making my own brackets up and hanging the UHF off the CD player which is fixed to the struts of the dash

This would be the best way to go! New cd/mp3 over uhf in dash. I bought the remote head unit, bolted the unit under the divers seat and the remote head on the centre console in front of the gear sticks beside the cig lighter, as I did not want to replace the cd player. Problems with this are unit may get drowned if in deep water, cant hear speaker so had to plug in remote speaker which sits beside the ash tray and hard to see display on screen. After all that the nissan cd player sh@t itself and I had to fork out more $$$ after the extra i spent on the remote head uhf to get a double din cd/mp3/tape to fill the whole in the dash.

dont forget thats a detachable face unit..
it will still depend on what type of unit he gets or has..
my concern when i installed mine was to keep the second space free for other things like my dvd screen..
now im going to change to a double din unit so it was lucky i did it that way..
my first idea was to stick it under the sterio but after thinking about it i decided not to

mines not a detachable face. its the full unit recessed into the dash.

i'm also about to instal a UHF unit. How the bloody hell do you get that fascia bit off. I have tried prying it off with a screw driver as badly described in the user manual.

if your talking about the part around the head unit and heater/fan controls etc... then it just comes off when you pull it.
should be about 4 clips in each corner of it

yep thats the one. I'll give it another go this weekend. Going by some of the other stuff on here it wouldn't surprise me if the previous owner has glued it in

Hey Grimbo,
There are two small slots near the bottom corners of the fascia panel. Put a small screwdriver in there and it should just pop off fairly easily.
Mark.
