So i've got one of those Garmin marine remote antennas, the ones with the coax and the BNC plug on the end. Will cutting the lead and putting another male and female BNC connectors on it, so i can mount it on my roof rack whilst still letting the rack being disconnectable, going to affect the reception? Or should i work out another way keeping the coax in one piece?

Thanks for any help.

So long as it's terminated properly, the length of the cable doesn't matter.

Technically, extra connectors will cause a drop in signal quality, but not enough to create noticeable problems.
