just after some feed back from people with lifted gu's on there tyre chioce for touring!
currently got cooper st's 33,12.5 r15 and i find there abit loud for the amount of tar driving iv been doing... plenty of grip of road but also dont balance up to well!! used to get away all the time but now with work im doing around 20thou a year with prob 80 percent on the bitchumin  thats not to say i want complete highway terrain=crap of road.dont get me wrong,i still love to get away and run riot  ;)

would love some feed back from people who have 33'3 ,12.5 to compare tyre noise, road ware and tear, and off and on road ability.

i can hear alot of people now saying just have to sets which is probably a smart idear but i dont realy want to have to change them just to duck down the road and hit the beach..or the quarry!!

cheers people :)

Haven't used them myself but in the 4wd Monthly test from a while ago Pirelli Scorpion's A/T Rated highly, better on road handling than the Cooper's, as good off road, nearly as good puncture resistance, can't remember what they said in term's of noise though and i think they were pretty good in sand too.

have them on the exs pathfinder, they are not an AT, but a normal HT IMWO. for what your doing are probably perfect. then again if you do that much road work, buy some proper road tires, and a second set of wheels with some muddys for the odd weekend away - best of both.

Most tires these days once they wear the square edge off them they make noise, specially anything that resembles a bit of agression.

pirelli scorpions where the first choice i was steering clear of..lol
old man had a set and they where complete rubbish..lasted about 45-50 thou and could never be balanced no matter where he took em.they where only 31's as well! maby they have fixed em! or he got a bad set!

i was guna bite the bullet and buy a second set..iv got a spare set of rims but there the factory gu rims and there ugly and a haven for getting mud/dirt and crap cought on the inside edge..! oh i dunno

how do coopers AT's and BFG's sound in 33 bi12.5.i know mates who have them but only in little cheese cutting form! they dont complain bout em and seem to last ok.

anymore tyre guru's out there

cheers

well i am not a fan of BFG AT's cause i got one that blew while on the F3 Freeway here and caused my to roll my old Maverick.

But when i had them on the Mav rocks and dirt were no challange, they hated mud big time, but hay, they aren't a MT. Noise wise, very quite compared to the MTR's i have now,

Also have the Pirelli Scorpions and they are rubbish, quiet yet, but sh*t to ballance, and as well they are so prone to puncher. already had a sidewall blow on the tar (no off road work) and a small spine went into it off road, very crap IMHO

just had a look on the goodyear web site and they make a 33 /12.5 in the silent armour :)
now going by the name i assume there quite on road and strong ;)
might duck down the road tomorrow and get some quotes! and while im there see what else they have got and just get some all round prices.

oh if only they made good o'l desert duelers in 33's..lol i think just about every patrol ,cruiser had them fitted in the 90's.cheap and reliable.

"well i am not a fan of BFG AT's cause i got one that blew while on the F3 Freeway here and caused my to roll my old Maverick"
i recon there must be a horror story for every tyre out there!!!

cheers

D Duellers are3 now tiawan made, not japanses, last half as long.

BFG NFG for touring.

We have had best run with pro Comp tri ply for touring, as far as wear and punctures, I put up with some noise to not fix tyres.

New pro comp xtreme mud good, or xtreme AT on same carcass.

MTR good for puncure resistance, hard to keep balanced.

Pirelli's in 4wdm test werent available in Aus at the time,a nd were air freighted out for test.

well spent all morning reading tire reviews and there seems to be good and bad response's on just about every tire out there...

goodyear mtr's get good responce but i dont want a mud tire, silent armour only gets afew negative comments here and there and sound like there a good AT tire!I basically just want a tire that can be ballanced up, quiet and good on the beach and gravel...

guna be a tough decision
