Hey, I have an 04 GU with the brake light staying on, i have disconnected the brake switch at the pedal and bridged the connectors, is there a common fault somewhere? has anyone had the same problem?

Mine did it after travelling thru the Centre, Kimberley, Pilbara recently.
I hit the switch with some lubricant and its all sweet now.

Do you have a Tekonsha Voyager electric brake controller fitted to control the electric brakes on caravans or trailers?
If so, these units are renowned for failing and having the symptoms you describe.
