What will I need to clear 31 inch tyres, I currently have a SPOA with OME springs, will I need a 2 inch body lift as well???
Any advice would be welcome

I reckon with a little bit of massaging of the firewall and some guard cutting, moving the steering stops and having to accept some tyre rubbing you should be ok. Of course if you went SPUA you would be able to fit a 38" Super boggy ground Hawg Centipede, but you will tip over

He'll only tip over coz of the SPOA right Grimbo?

No no no - SPOA's are super stable, its SPUA cars that are always on their lid - you're confused Damo (as per usual)...

I thought it was because it was SPUA and chrome that causes tip overs?

But with my current 8 inches of lift will I need to cut anything to fit these 31 inch tyres???
What about shackles, would I get another inch of lift for more clearance if I ran longer shackles

You should make some new shackles at least 9 inches long from some 3/4 inch chip board you may also need a 4 inch bodylift ... if you wany to clear those 31s' ...

you should probably cut out caffiene. As to shackles well I have always been of the believe that a shackle can never be too long so if you use some 1m lengths you can get all the lift you need place a nice soft ride with lots of travel
Disclaimer
This is a joke thread that shouldn't be taken seriously, although Damo really does love chrome

probably best to remove the body from the chassis all together to make tyre fitment easier - then just lower the body back down - once it touches the tyres - you'll know how much more lift you will need in there

But will 31's throw my gearing out, maybe I should buy 30's
Do you know anybody who sells 30 inch tyres, and would I need to cut less if I fitted them

Now that is some lateral thinking .. would this also work for non SPOA vehicles ?? also will Steve need to lift the whole body .. or just the bits near the tyres ... what if he took the body off and got it put in abig press and made it into a kinda U shape .. so the guards were more outa the way would this work ???

How about if I get a panel beater to do this (PIC) to my bonet, will the 30 inch tyres hit anything then

Actually due to the additional flex you would get with the 30's you would actually need to cut more .. so if you were to run a 38 youwould get less flex so you would need to cut less ...
it is entirely possible I am full of shit

Hmm Ok thanks for everybody's input

why stay with the 26's, why not go the 14in rims with low profile tyres, full pimpin style

There is an idea, but I really dont want to have to cut my guards.
Will I have to cut anything if I fit smaller tyres than what I currently have??

no but you could graft some fenders from a Grand Vitara to give that cramped wheel look which is all the rage in europe this season. just be careful of axle wrap with the smaller tyres as i have found that the wrapping paper can foul on the brake lines which I fixed so they are now fixed lines but that's another story

that's the go! solid suspension, just weld some brackets from the chassis to the axles, then you can have your bodywork withing a few mm of the tyres, and never have to worry bout em rubbing

hmmmmm, if you weld to the chassis, it probably is classified as a chassis mod. better to get some bigass u-bolts made up that go round the axle and chassis

Kind of - you'd probably get an engineer to approve it, but that wouldn't mean squat if you got pulled over by a cop and he / she didn't like what they saw

so that would be anti squat Greg. Then you would need to research the Gods of suspension thread to get the right anti squat when dealing with the cops.
As to the other story I'm hoping to get it sorted really soon, Brooke starts a new job in two weeks so we have to be a bit $ conscious til then. I'm hoping it will go bacl to Joe next week for a couple of issues to be fixed when the diff swap happened then its new windscreen and battery, chuck some tyres on (might go 26s

) and a couple of small road worthy issues then hopefully off to a 4wd friendly road worthy shop

I mean "squat" - as in Sweet FA.

I read this through, let me see if I have it straight.................
A zook with solid suspension, 155/45/13 road patterns and no body just a seat welded to the chassis.
And if you get pulled over you're gonna take a squat in front of the officer.
SOUNDS COOL!!!! POST HEAPS OF PICS!!!!
