LANDCRUISER LOW RANGE RATIOS

Gday all. This is the question, got a hj75 std transfer. 2to1 low range ratio.
60series auto run a 2.3to1 transfer so ive been told(A440F). Can anyone confirm this??????
My thoughts are to bolt up the auto transfer to my manual box which would take my 37s down to a 33/34 in 1st gear low range. Just wanted to see if anyone has done it if in fact i am correct in assuming the ratio is right and that it will bolt up.
Thanks Denny

No the auto runs 2.1/1 on the last square headlight 62 series, and 1.9 on all others....

inly slight differences in gear teeth...you wouldnt feel any difference, marks sell 3/1 low range gears and overdrive high range...so u could run lower diffs and have real low low range

Here in Panama in my books I have that auto 60 with 440 run 2.48:1 low range ..
Some gassers run 2.28:1 and most diesels run 1.96:1 .. all in BF1A split case ..

Does this mean there may be other (lower) ratios available factory for my HZJ105 - I think the transfer is a HF2A (Gbox Auto A343F)
Thanx

yes. but there are aftermarket lower low range gears available, several ratios are available.
Andrew are you sure on those ratios?

And I believe from other discussions the aftermarkets are noisy (straight cut?) and as they are constant mesh, it'll be there all the time.

the 80 series aftermarket low range gears replace only the low range gear set and make no difference to high range ratio or noise.
the split transfer case aftermarket gears replace the entire tranfer case gearset and although some people have made complaints of noisoy operation, I have installed a few sets and found this not to be the case in high range. low range is definitely noisier but so are the factory low range gears.

They are meshed all the time, so even though low range is not "driven" it's still enganged and spinning. I take it you mean at there is no load on it aspower is going though the high range gearset, the noise is minimal vs background?
Thanx

yes they are meshed all the time, but because they are not loaded, they will not make any (audible in the cabin) noise.

My experience only based in my Marks underdrive gears in my Tencha are noysi , but less than a MT tire on road ... nothing really to worry IMOP.
I read Christo Slee in IH8MUD about the lower box that he intaled in 80 series and he said have heating problems in HW runs ..

Brian it has been a while...the fj62 and hj61 auto got a lower low range, but it was not significant...2.07 i think as opposed to 1.96
I have never seen them in the flesh, only read and heard ppl talk about them...a friend has the Marks higher highrange and lower low range in his hzj75 case and loves it.....but when loaded, plus the 33 inch tyres...5th overdrive is too steep now for it even with safari turbo. He also mentioned he needed to get larger speakers so he didnt habe to hear the gears
