Vitara oil capacity?

Yes, I've checked the bible... but is 4.4L the correct oil capacity for a Vit?
Just did an oil change on the X-90 (geeeeeezus... took 3 bloody hours as I had to remove all the bash plates to get to the sump plug
) and was unsure as to whether 4.4L is correct...
Have chucked in a few litres and it's barely registering on the dipstick (mind you THIS dipstick is covered in dirty sump
)
...and what was Suzuki thinking of when they put the oil filler cap at the BACK of the engine????
