80 series turbo on gas 1fzfe, will it work?

ok been thinking up ways to run a 4.5 litre 1992 80 series on gas with a turbo. the gas system is an impco system which is not injected, just the normal gas setup.. should i run it blow through or suck through??the plan is to run max 8 psi.

if its running on gas i'm guessing i won't need a unichip or computer for it? petrol will be there but just in case of emergency. i'm thinking of disconnecting the turbo boost actuator when i run on petrol so it doesn't build boost?

i'm finding it hard to find info on a gas turbo setup so any help would be appreciated

wouldn't it increase the boost if you disconnect the acuator because it wont be able to open the wastegate??????????

no, if you disconnect the actuator the wastegate will stay open.. the actuator holds the wastegate closed and opens when the set boost is reached

i think he means the connecting rod between the acutator and the wastegate flap :?

as for the turbo gas, read RAPTORTHUMPER's thread on his turbo gas 4.5 gu. In great detail and will give u a few pointers.

You will still need a chip of somesort to retard the ignition under boost, you may get away with moderate boost without a chip but it is likely you will have to retard the distributor a couple of degrees, its more likely to have problems with pinging if it isnt intercooled as high air temps offset the ability of LPG to resit knocking(pinging).
Personally I'd put a chip in, not necessarily a unichip as there are more versatile ones out there.
The Impco can work it will need a balance line to the converter atmospheric port or it wont run under boost.

Even with the actuator jammed open the turbo will still provide additional airflow that may be enough to upset the petrol tune, you need to check and tune eveything or your cheap turbo job will get real dear if it hurts the engine.
