temp guage not working on diesel mk triton

how do i fix it? with summer around the corner i think it would be best if i monitored my temperature expeccially since the 2.8TD revs its tits out at 3000rpm on the freeway at 110km.
so is it a matter of replacing a sensor or is there something more to it?
