ya lucky it didnt slosh into the intake while driving... it needs a little one way valve at the top left corner there, let it all drain out on its own

I have had that much if not more in my old diesel. Had it up to the lip when the air cleaner was taken out.
Nissan air intakes are crap. I had what I thought was fully sealed mine with sealastic and hi-temp gasket goo. It still leaked. And it wasnt coming in thru the nipple thingo on the pre-cleaner. First time it happened to me. I only pulled over cos it didn't sound right and was abit lumpy when trying to rev.
To the best of my knowledge its still going. But I was lucky.
My new old car is going to be sealed heaps better I hope.

thats why the pre-cleaner in the MQ diesels are so good. and water that does get in there, just drains out a little one way hole in the bottom. have even had water above the intake with no probs.

give it time, it will keep bending till you are able to notice it.

mate, i'm pretty sure there is no damage, you only get damage from hydraulic lock, which is where the engine stops.
This engine did not stop so therefore no hydraulic lockup.
I'm a diesel mechanic too...

hehe new old car
Fk yeah that is lucky mate...
I've always had it drilled into water + diesel = nevaaaahhh, unless you've spent time with a rool good snorkey, I'd even avoid splashing too fast through puddles.
There was a bloke up home, whom nosed into a river and bang crash - had a snorkle too. Was a nice white gq shorty with purple barwork, 4" lifte and 33's - non turbo. Booked it in for a rebuild and, because of all the extraneous stuff like alternators and starters, it ended up costing him > $10k so.
But then there is your story which is always good to hear, a drop of water doesn't necessarily = dead.
