i have a question, at work we have GU work utes and they tend to get sluggish as the tiny filter/screen that is located under the intake bolt in the fuel pump fills up with shiat.

so my question is....is this a regular thing across the GU range?? this happens to more than one of the utes aswell!! and all are diesel.

i curious as i am looking at getting a GU as a tow car and this bit of info is a bit off putting!!

Cheers
Evan

 My mk has the screen and fills up with shiat, Takes 10 mins to clean and stops harm to your pump

Easy fix, Use clean fuel and clean it out when you do a service every 5k

its the fuels fault, not the vehicle. my MQ is the same, to the point that it stoped my engine once b4 i worked out what the prob was.

as pongo said, just clean it out with ya service, only takes a few mins to do

It does catch a few people out that don't know about it, but would you rather the shiat pass into the pump, or clean it once in a while? mines done 500,000k's+ and I put it down to good filters (fuel, Oil and Air) and regular changes.

I really haven't had to clean mine very often and a fuel additive once in a while seems to make a big difference too.

why do only some GQ's have the small filter on the pump and not others while the earlier MQ and MK have them? strange. the filter is on the return banjo right, not the one going into the pump for the fuel?

yea so is removing water seperators from fuel lines and alot of "reputable" mechanics will do this if they are clogged

yep, on the lift pump before the filter. its actualy classed as the primary filter on the MQ, the spin on fuel filter is secondary
