NH Pajero loosing coolant

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to locate a possible coolant leak in my Pajero (6G72). The things which I have done to try and locate the leak are:

- visually checked when the motor is hot and cold to see if there are any visible leaks from hoses, fittings etc

- pressure test done twice with no noticable leak detected

- TK (?) test done to check if head gasket is leaking (checks for exhaust gases)

- oil is fine and not milky

- radiator cap and thermostat replaced

Are there any other ideas on where it could be going? It loses about half a litre per 100kms and I have run out of ideas on where the water could be going. I have noticed the drop as I have to constantly top up the overflow bottle.

What happens if you don't top up the overflow bottle?

Leave it empty like you mention.
Go for a drive with an empty overflow bottle.
Get it to operating temperature (good 10 min drive)
Let it cool fully
Open radiator cap next day see if it has dropped in the actual radiator

My overflow bottle never has anything in it when it is cold. I fill it up then next time it's cold its empty again. (Like yours it must go somewhere - I have no idea where)

But the actual radiator level has never needed topping up in 3 years. So I don't worry about it.
