hj60 noise/ suspesion

hi this is an awesome site congrats to all.
i just boaght a 85 hj60 it has the usual leaks around swivel hubs, side plates bit round sump 300,000 klm but doesnt blow any smoke or use oil . gets 14l/100k round town and pulling 1t bmt on hwy not sure if thats good or bad, i have a buzzing whirring noise from hte harmonic balancer pully on the crank it is more pronounced when cold and low gears disappears comletely when hot and 4/5th any one know what this could be . also need to do suspension and seen ironman kit for 800 on ebay any one know if these kits are good or stay away from, all help is appreciated thank andy

The noise at cold is probably the powersteering pump, mine does the same and i've heard of others doing it too. Normally a pump gets noisy when the fluid is either aerated or the pump is stuffed. I'm not 100% sure why their noisy when cold but i thought maybe because the fluid is cold and thicker its not flowing aswell and getting slightly aerated? Just a thought.

thank for the reply chunks i just did the relief valve this morning had to move the power steering pump out of the way left the belt off as it is cracked when i started it with the pump not connected it still has a high pitch whirring sound and definately from around the big pully on the end of crank hope it is not main bearings or end float or whatever hope someone can give me some ideas as i dont wanna throw to much $ at it if its stuffed
