Mk + sd33t + 31's+4.3 + 100km/hr = how many rpm ?

Post by pongo »

I dont think my 5 speed is in a LWB sd33t model, My shorty was the same and used to sit about 2100/2200 rpm on the same tyres and diffs as my lwb which is now doing about 2600rpm

With the 35's i just sold it seemed sit about 2100 at 100km/hr

So what does yours do? Any ideas what my box is out of , maybe l28 ?

Dont wanna go to the hassle of swapping boxes to find out my memory was wrong

Appreciate the help

RPM's

Post by Sterlo »

Hey All

Well with 5th and 4.6 diffs u will be doing about 2300-2400 @100km/hr. In 4th @ 100km/hr 3000rpm. 4.3 diffs were fitted to most SWB turbo disels giving around 2000-2100RPM in 5th @ 100km/hr..

All the 5 speeds had the same gear ratios, except for the cabstar box it had lower 1st and higher 5th. With 4th gear being 1:1.

I have a SWB turbo diesel with 4.6 diffs, now on 35's this is great about 10km/liter. 2300RPM at true 100km/hr. but when put standard 750R16 tyres back on i cant even get 7.5km to the liter!!! Hope this helps
