Coat,
2" extended shackles will require a set of 3 deg wedges. This will return your castor back to stock or there abouts. The shackles are a good quick and easy mod.

Busty..

What issues will arise from installing the shackles and not doing anything to the castor?

steering will be flighty, railroad or tramline (not sure if they are the right terms but it will follow/fall into the grooves in roads very easily or without notice) or all over the place..

Vague steering and steering wander especially after hitting a bump in the road. Quite dangerous depending on the rig and the amount of shackle extension.

EDIT: oops: didnt see Andy's reply above. Pretty much what he said. :D

in laymans terms - mine handled like a bag of shit after getting the shackles. Verrry light and direct steering, and wanders like all hell.

Standard length springs with 2inch shackles will give a 1 inch lift, a little better flex and a bouncier ride as the shackles will be closer to vertical.

if you can afford it, replace the main and wrap springs with one or two inch lengthened ones and it will get the best out of the shackles in both ride and flex, but at the cost of constantly buggered bushes due to high misalignment during flexing. thats what i've found anyways.

If you want new leafs someone like Carolls Springs should be able to supply them.

hopefully in a few weeks i'll have it done, i'm probably going to only use the two longest leaves from the hilux pack and the rest from my front spring pack with the entire rear pack in the front. If you go to the ironman website they have a catalouge with all the spring dimensions on it there so you can find some that suit you.

cheers

Yeah i just went to Carrols springs in Wacol. i can't remember the quote but for main and wraps only it wasn't much. the advantage of going this way is that they are the right length AND the right camber/lift AND the center bolt is in the right spot.

How does getting just the main and wrap give you the centre bolt in the right place, did you drill it yourself. did they come straight off the shelf or did they have to make them up for you
