i went 2 the beach 1 month ago and was told for temprustproofing to use lanotec coz it wont go tacky and the sand wont stick 2 it when i wash it off. wrong, washed it yesterday(was at mechanics until 2dy) and the sand was stuck to my car. i had 2 use degreaser and gurney it twice over to get most of it off.

ive got at least a month before im going on the beach again so what can i use as a permanent rustproof that i can spray on now and it to go hard to rustproof my car. i dont want any of that tacky stuff that wont go hard coz sand will stick to it and i wont be able to get it off.

places i want to spray is the usual like under the wheel arches, all corner, all underbody etc. if there is nothing can i use a rust kill paint?

whats something you've used that u know u can leave it there and wash your car and get all sand off without sticking to tacky stuff?

Go to a paint shop or supercrap and get a tin or s/cans of underbody rust proof. its a black body deadner type stuff, K&H or septone are good and cant tell them apart from endrust etc.

most of the can rust proofs etc. use emolium. go down to the local boral or emolium plant and by a bucket full. it will take about 6 weeks to dry but you wont have to do it again

that's all good and well if the surface is perfectly clean, you get anything trapped underneath and it will just stop you from seeing the rust until it's too late.

por15, only way to go

On my previous 4wd I would mix old engine oil with diesel to get a consistency that would spray well, then get underneath and go for it, repeat annually. Whatever the solution, a thorough wash after beach work is critical.

the ones in the can with the special spray attachment thing and the ones in the tin are emolium based normally

yes the upper body stuff is tacky, Im talking about the underbody stuff, I can tell you its no different from what the big rustproof mobs use. Ive been breathing this stuff since 1988.

I Painted under my old 60 with Chassis black, gave it a few real good thick coats with the spray gun, then did under the guards with that brush on body dedener stuff that has that fibre reinforcing stuff, worked a treat, all washed off and is nice and black. The old fella has done it to all his forbies and they all get the beach treatment 3-4 times a year, come home give it a good wash and never had any trouble with rust when it comes to the underbody :P

sounds good, was planning to paint the chasis black with a rustkill closs paint. will that work? and with guards i might use that paint on stuff. what brand was it can u remember and can i use it under the whole body of the car once the rust is cut out and patched up. how long does this stuff last?
