Gday guys,
Had a search and couldn't find the answer to a few q's.
Can anyone give me some help in how to identify what transfer case is in a Mitsubishi Delica, with the intention of fitting lower tcase gears? Is there a visual clue, ie number of bolts somewhere or something?
Its a 94 2.8itd, 5 speed manual, 4.875 diffs.
Also, whats the easiest way to id whether the front diff is 7.5 or 8", and how do you ID the larger rear diffs externally?
Lastly anyone running 32" tyres with the 2.8td? Im chasing feedback on economy and driveability changes.

Cheers
Daryl

I cannot help with the transfer case but I'd suggest that it's behind the 2.8 it'd be the bigger one which no gears are availavle without major work to fit.

To identify the heavier rear diff it has 12 bolts round holding the diff head in. the 9 inch have 10 bolts. Being 4.875 ratio i'd suggest it's the smaller one which seems odd...... A pajero would have had a 4.900 behind the 2.8tdi

I am unsure how to tell externally about the front diff. but I have two 8 inch one's here I can look at...?

Thanks NJV6.

Rear diff is definitely 10 bolt.
Front diff is high pinion, and measures ~300mm from front cover mounting face to rear face of pinion flange.
Transmission is listed on manufacturers plate as v5m31, does that give any clues to what the transfer is?

Cheers

Yea that is the heavier 5 speed so I'm picking the transfer will be too.

I'll measure up later today.
