After doing a 3" lift to my 88 GQ SWB patrol the other week, i am experencing a grinding noise when backing off the accelarator(spelling) when im traveling 80kms and over.

I have instaled new adjustable lower trailing arms that have been set at 16mm longer then standard and i have also installed adjustable panhards aswell.I havent done a wheel alignment and castor correction as yet, that is happening on friday.

Could it be that the rear pinion angle is out and i should get adjustable upper arms instaled and get the pinion angle profesionally adjustable, or could my problem be something else?

when I lifted my shorty which had been at stock height for it's entire life, i had exact same grinding noise as you described.

got the uni's replaced and shaft balanced noise went away. It basically got explained to me that the joints had worn their own groove's new angle meant it was slipping over a fresh surface and the old groove = vibration and noise.
