Guard chop
Guard chop
Im at the stage where i need to chop the guard to minimise tyre damage to my 35" tyres. In the front i want to virtual lift it but want the front section to be cut straight towards the headlight bucket.
Can anyone who has done this mod to accomade 35's post up a pic so i can steal an idea.
Cheers

Hey Mark post up some pics of your handy work. Could be a good option as at the moment it looks like i have to add pieces back on which defeats the purpose of the cut.
Pm me you mobile so i can rack your brain.

This is almost impossible to answer. The inner guards on a sierra aren't structural (That's the official word from an engineer) but that doesn't mean it's permissible to remove them either.sanger wrote:Also may be a stupid question but is removing inner fenders legal??? Already attract attention from the fuzz so dont want to give them a reason to defect me.
The engineer on Greg's build was very specific about how the inner guards and wheeltubs were to be built. (The rears ended up fabricated and the fronts stock but moved up 1"
The problem is, what is "legal" has nothing to do with what the cops can defect you for.
I have seen a car with swampers get a warning for no speed rating, but no mention was made of no inner guards. If the officer couldn't find something obvious, the search would be on, and you can't argue with what they call - if they say no inner guards are a fail as a structural modification, then you're stock with it.
IMHO pulling the inner guards is a PITA. you end up with nowhere to mount anything, the guards get super loose and floppy, the belts and hoses get more vulnerable (the whole engine bay is more susceptible to damage) for me, it's not about the legality, , just what's practical.
