Looked at a 78 2-door today.
Not the tidiest inside and out, but motor was clean ran well, allready has gas set up. But has trouble idleing on gas, Just timing, mix?
LT95 gearbox, no noises there, Drive them for work so had some idea of what too look for.
Looked pretty good for something as old as me.
Hasn't got a road worthy on it. Whats the story in Vic how hard core the inspections and what should I be looking to fix in way of leaks or handleing.
Have just moved down here from bris so not cluey.

Also it's got the seatbelt's built in to the seats, this a pain?
Remember hearing something about this. Or only if you plan to change seats.?

the seat beats built into the seat is a pain but they also hold you in while offroad

Yeah basically if you want to change the seats then you have to get them mounted on the b pillar

dude RWC inspections in VIC can be hard or easy depending on places. if you tell them specifically that you want the RWC as the BUYER, they would be more lenient than as the SELLER. with old cars, you may need to fix a few things.

Cool, getting a prepurchase inspection done on mechanicals to be on the safe side, and will give me a good idea of what I need to get fixed before the RWC gets done.

Yeah have seen that one and a few others in the "rural" area's but they are mostly miles away.
Living in pucka and driving to frankston wasn't my first option for one of them. If it doesn't work out first time I'm willing to wait for a bit to see what turns up. A little while anyway

Yep, pain in the butt, I holesawed into the pillar so I could slide the RTA specified plate up to where I wanted it, with sikaflex to hold it in in case I ever undid it again, bolted in a second hand set out of a Sigma, then installed the Sigma seats, sold it unregistered, explained it to the guy who brought it and he just got it roadworthied as normal, few mechanics and even RTA would know Rangies well enough to notice the change.
RTA didn't notice an uncomplianced Holden 6cyl during a roadside inspection on my brothers Landrover, mind you the motor looked like it had been there since 76 and it's engine number matched the rego papers, so somebody had just roadworthied it & registered it with it in.

i am sure there are a few guys on here that would be able to take a quick look to see if if the rangies are any good..if in their area....
I would be happy to help in the frankston/seaford area...

Hi Thonger,
I've just been floating around melbourne looking at just those cars you have been eying off. I know which one's are worth it and which one's aren't bro. Can tell you parkdale is rough but gas system well worth it.

Not worried if the bodies a bit rough, as I am just going to flog it and rubb trees and shit
Considering I've had 2 rollovers in 9 years of driving
More concerned with mechanicals and if it'll pass RWC.

Well then call me to discuss - I don't mind fishing through the sh!t.
There were 2 others I saw and they would go close to RWC with minor attention....

On another tangent how hard to swap in a p76 motor and mate it to th lt95? Considering it as an option
