Yea, if its one piece not that bad - depends what has to be done inside the gaurd (how much cutting and how many bends) the dearest parts would probably be labour, bends, then straight pipe, you could look at what others(and myself) have done and price some of those rubber elbows from the truck joints and hose clamp them onto the stainless if you do a search you'll find pics, could nearly become a diy job then?!

call Midway metals (yatala near beenleigh), they are one of the better suppliers of stainless, price the parts you'll need. The elbo's are quite expensive

Heres mine, its not that cheap, polished 316 stainless, It's TIG welded and I've cut it into the gaurd to try and protect it. We do them at work.

Got it back yesterday and couldn't be happier with it :D

Took them two days and cost me $285 in the end. This was a special price because they hadn't done a Hilux before.
Rob said expect to pay up to $500 normally; which i think is still quite reasonable when you consider a heavily restricted Safari one is $570 just for the kit without fitting; and stainless looks heaps better ;)

They did end up having to make one cut and weld which hasn't been properly linished due to my own time contraints; but i amd going to drop it off some day and get that all polished out so it isn't noticeable.

That price is with a ram style head and the hole in the body has the black plastic protector around it so it looks tidy. Also the hole is an oblong one so there is no right angle bend which is better for airflow.

And then there is the performance
I thought my EGT gauge was broken to start with and i was cursing them; until i planted my foot and it did move a bit. My EGTs have dropped between 50 and 100 degrees across the speed range. For instance maintaining 100 up hill i used to read about 500-550 degrees now it stays under 400. It is amazing how much better my engine must be breathing.

Anyway enough ranting
All i can say is if you have a turbo diesel get a snorkel and not one of those plastic crap ones that restrict your airflow so they don't make noise :!: Mines not noisey :)

Pics are coming
