GQ front end vibration

Got a nasty vibration from the front end in my LWB GQ. May or may not have something to do with pulling air on Tuesday, but I did on Tuesday at some point that's for sure. Don't know when exactly as I wasn't doing high enough speeds to notice it til I got back on the highway.
Starts getting noticeable at about 60 kph, steering wheel starts vibrating. Gets quite violent at about 80 and I get a tapping noise that sound like running over the cat's eyes on the road at around 95-100. Tapping is worse when turning right.
Initially thought I'd thrown a wheel weight, checked the balance and sure enough I'd lost one, but it didn't make much of a difference. Did a wheel alignment and it was a fair whack out, but still didn't fix the problem. Certainly helped a bit, I got the tapping noise at 80 before I did it.
What should I check next? Tie rod ends seem ok, nothing is obviously bent. Buggered a CV? Bent an axle? Bent the diff housing?
Suspension is stock with adjustable front panhard and 2" spring lift. 32" BFG muddies.
