Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey.

Well i got pulled over for a 'random breath test' the sarvo
Ended up driving away with a few defects...
1. No mud guards on the rear of the front tyres and none on the front or rear of the back tyres, if that makes sence.
2. My tail lights are to close together apparently.

Ive been on the RTA website for a while now looking for info on how rear tail lights have to get setup but cant find what im after. Any info anyone?

Also my lux is a 90 model, do they come out with mud guards on the front end? I know im ment to have them on the tray but i thought the front was optional. Any info would be good.

ive got the same model hilux and it has m.gaurds on the front

And there were a few threads on here regarding tray buildups with RTA specs, but this was a fair while ago.

What did they say were the measurements required?

I think the taillights need to be 600mm from the outer edge of the vehicle.
(I think I read this in my Vic. RWC book a long time ago.)
If you need to find out exactly I can check the book again for ya on monday.

no need for mudflaps at the front as fas is i know.

Mud /wheel guards have to be used to cover front and back of tyres in the rear under the tray with the mudflaps required on the rear section only but the front of rear guard is optional It must also cover the width of the tyre. If needed extra flares can be used.

The bottom edge of any guard or flap combined or not is to be within 230mm of the road surface not 300mm. It is the same rules for when building a trailer.

The copper said to me that measuring down at apporx 45 degrees from the under side of my tray or where ever it has to be a two thirds the length of that distance. If that makes sence to you.
So from this below, i under stand that the lights cant be anymore than 400mm from the edges of the tray and there is no set distance for the gap between them...
Correct?


6.7.4.1. In width:
For M1 and N1 category vehicles: For S1 or S2 categories devices that
point on the apparent surface in the direction of the reference axis which
is farthest from the vehicle's median longitudinal plane shall not be
more than 400 mm from the extreme outer edge of the vehicle;
For the distance in between the inner edges of the apparent surfaces in
the direction of the reference axes there is no special requirement.
For all other categories of vehicles: For S1 or S2 categories devices the
distance in between the inner edges of the apparent surfaces in the
direction of the reference axes shall be not less than 600 mm. This
distance may be reduced to 400 mm if the overall width of the vehicle is
less than 1,300 mm.

I believe that they must be at least 600mm apart, under 400mm from edge of tray, no higher than 1200mm and no lower than 350mm from ground, equally spaced from center. tail lights must be visable for 200m and not over 7 watts , turn and brake lights must be visable for 30m. also have to have red reflectors.

So i found out the deal with the lights and mudflaps for anyone thats was curious. Rang the RTA technical blokes.

They have to be within 400 from the edges of the tray, not the whole light just part of it. Has to be at least 600 between them and no more that 1200 from the ground.

The mudflaps have to be between 100-230 from the ground.

And can you have the mudflaps bit overturned as you don't need all of them?
Cops get it wrong sometimes.

What were the measuremnets u mean?
Well the cop told me thay had to be on the edges of the tray but they dont.
Mine were about 450 in from the edges and only about 470 between them.
The new setup looks so so shit but defect has been cleared.
