Now i know about the search function but i cannot find info i am after.

I have finally killed the old trusty g13a in my 97 coily, it has dropped a piston so basically i want to come out the end of this with an injected motor. Now i need some advice i am having trouble choosing between motors and how to buy them.

first question Front cut or Motor seperately?

second thing i don't know what to choose i need to know about the cost ease of installation and performance to try and weigh up what i want to do.

here are the motors i have to choose from
M13A
G13BB
MPFI 1.6 ..maybe
M16A

i am interested to see what people have found i think mu favourite choice would have to be the M13a or m16a but i am not sure what needs to be done to fit one. I know G13BB's are simple to fit but i would really like twin cam and i think the mpfi 1.6's are getting a little old but i would like to hear everyones opinions.

also where is a good place to get front cuts and motors ?

Thanks Sam

advantage of a G13bb engine is that vicroads, rta etc wont blink (nor should they) when you update your engine number.

thats something to think about, although it is same capcity so should not be a problem anyways

Have a speak to brenno if he browses outers, recently went on tassie trip with him, he has the 1.3 injected from a Jimny, apparently it was a straight bolt in no fuss fit. It went really well, was raping the 5litre hilux and patrol.

it doesn't get any easier than the g13bb. they may be a bit more$ than others but you can take the price of engineering off the bill. everything bolts in & if you know your way around the wiring you should be going again in a weekend.

Why not a G13B? It has ease of fitment and twin cam.

as far as i knew g13b was the second from of the 8 valve carby motor.

i would keen on a g13bb if anyone knows where one is that would be great lol, i have found an m13a having trouble finding fitment details though, i am thinking aftermarket computer if i go m13a

looks like the m13a and m16a are out of the question, they need to many sensors and a VSS and stuff like that, so the choice is between

MPFI G16
G13BB from earlier jimny

Does anyone have any power figures for these motors?

also i am under the impression both of these pretty much bolt up to my gearbox is that correct ?

cant beat a the jimny motor hey pj
fits straight in, bolts to gearbox and engine mounts, need to find about 5 wires in the wiring, acc, fuel pump relay, engine temp, power and negative from memory. Took me a day to put in.
Look for my prev post about g13bb, very detailed.

power is 60kw and 110nm, and with 4.9s and 30s and fully loaded car i was draging (up to 70 for safety reasons) a 4.2 petrol patrol, a 5l v8 shorty mav and a 5l hilux, so shes got some go.

G13B is the swift Gti twin cam motor. Same block as the G13ba etc but forged crank and conrods. And twin cam multi point fuel injected head. It revs to 7500rpm factory and can be bumped up to 8250 without any mods bar a chip. Factory outputs are 100bhp and 105nm

would it be possible to use parts from a G13B for a G13BB
like forged crank and conrods :?:
or does the jimny motor already have this or dont fit?

I doubt it, your best bet would be to jump on the redlinegti forums, the guys on there know all about all the different engines and what can and can't be done.
