A friend has a 2003 Patrol with the 4.8 engine and ask me if i know of something that can be made to that engine to up (even more) the power of it, so i started searching on the web and found this:
http://www.gulfautomart.com/workshopnis ... l4.8.shtml
But seems that they don't sell the complete kit, also i believe that if they sell a kit it may be very expensive, i've send them a mail but no response, so i though that maybe in Australia somebody makes a turbo kit. Do you know if it exists?

LMAO
There was a thread on this ages ago when the 4.8 FIRST came out on the Patrol4wd list. Much laughter was had!
They were claiming a squillion HP out of it. So I called their Aussie reseller, and said Im looking at the X hp kit, the bloke laughed his guts out, and said you wanna talk to Spiro..
(At a very low 5Psi of boost pressure the mighty Nissan 4.8ltr engine with turbo recorded an awesome 400 horse Power!!!!! )
The price was over $10k all up... And it turned it into a race engine EG Unreliable.
BTW, they are in Dubai, where they all go for squillion HP engines, like that dude with the 800 HP 80 series and shit, long flat areas with fuck all between..

I dont understand the much laughter part?
Please explain
Look at the torque and horsepower figures, they are both up.
the 4.8 is an ideal supercharge or turbo platform.

Why this???
A turbo i/c set up and tuned properly is over $7000 on a diesel and from what I am told there is more to turboing a petrol compared to TD42.
And people spend more than this on engine conversions for less hp. But they think it is a good idea for them.
Me personnal, I'm going to buy a GU TD42T and install that in my car instead of rebuild and thats going to cost a minium of about $10000. And I planned on doing as much work as possible myself, and still less hp. Need better paying job me thinks.

They arent talking turbo and IC for $10k are they? just mentioned Snail in last post.
Wait a few days to see photos of the IC Andrew has made me... I still have a woody....
Talk to NIck W on Patrol list, he has the whole kit to rebuild TD42 with sleeves and all, lots cheap parts..

Yer but want to upgrade all the other crap to newer stuff at the same time and the motor's from the wreckers come complete ie alt p/s and aircon.
Just need to rebuild the gear box as well as it's got 2nd gear probs. I think the syncro's are past being knackered.

Want more power from your 4.8 bring it down to Dubai and you will get as much hp as you want ...
both of the above are 4.8 with turbos, you're looking at about 800 hp+ from the engine and about 620 to the wheels ... its very common here to see patrols to be running that amount of power, since people here, except me of course, have enough money for the mods
